Customer Facing
An example of customer facing that is linked to web development is an online catalogue. This is where viewers can log onto their computer at home and search for different shops such as Amazon, Boohoo, Argos etc. The user is then able to choose items in which they want to buy and this can range from things such as food to clothes shopping or shoes etc. Here are a few examples of customer facing websites: Amazon allows users to search for things of their interests. This can range from things such as Kindles, mobile phone covers/cases etc, cameras, clothes etc. The Boohoo customer facing website as also shown below is able to allow customers to choose from a variety of different clothing or shoes of their choice and select which items of clothing in which they want to buy.
Argos is yet another customer facing website as the customer is able to choose from a range of different categories and choose what item they would like to purchase. There is a wider variety of things to choose from on the Argos customer facing website. Customer Facing helps productivity on shopping websites because it promotes the different items and gives suggestions on the items that the customer is searching for. Online shopping websites allow the customer to shop 24 hours a day and 7 days a week as they have no closing times unlike the normal high street shops.
Intranet
The intranet is a good way for students and teachers to access class work/notes. A good example of an intranet website is SRC. The SRC website has an Intranet set up called Moodle and this allows students to do a range of different things such as access notes from all the modules studying, view assignment guidance, view their timetables etc. Each individual student has their own name and password and this means that the student only is able to access the notes from the course they are studying. The staff can also use this to complete online training and this prevents them from taking time off to complete the training on a day course. It also means that the company does not have to pay a professional that is trained to train others in a specific area to train the staff.
This is what the students screen should look like after when their individual name and password have been entered into the intranet webpage.
This is what the intranet webpage looks like after the user has entered in their username and password. The user is now able to access class notes etc.
